A man from Kentucky has bagged the biggest Rocky Mountain goat on 
record.According to Eldon Buckner, spokesman for the U.S.-based Boone and Crockett Club, the goat shot on Oct. 8, 2011, in the Stikine River area scored 57 and four eighths Boone and Crockett points, creating a new world record.

About 25 percent of the mountain caribou transplanted from northern B.C. to the south have died. In early March, government biologists moved 19 mountain caribou from Dease Lake to the  Kimberley area in the hopes of bolstering the dwindling south Purcell caribou herd.
But four of the 19 transplanted caribou have been killed by cougars and one plunged into a creek. read more


 

A Princeton teen survived a brief encounter with a deer while his mother
believes it's time the municipality took action to rid the animals.
Brandon Ghiloni, 17, says he was jogging home along the KVR trail about midnight on the evening of April 7 when he heard a noise coming up from behind.  "I turned around and there was a big deer charging me. By the time I turned  around it was about half a metre from me, "says Ghiloni in recalling the experience. read more

In case you missed it, Giant George, the world’s tallest dog as declared by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2010, has a new book out. The Great Dane’s owners wrote a book about life with the oversized dog, who weighs more than 250 pounds, stands about 4 feet tall at the shoulder and is around 7 feet long from head to tail. You’ve got to see the video and pictures of the pooch to truly get an idea of his size.

A great white shark measuring nearly 20 feet and weighing 2,000 pounds -- according to local reports -- was hauled up Sunday by commercial fishermen in the Sea of Cortez near Guaymas.
The massive predator was dead when it was brought to the surface in a net deployed by fishermen named Guadalupe and Baltazar, who were treated to the surprise of a lifetime when they saw what they had captured.
