Staten Island hunter charged with accidentally shooting guide, reports say

SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA -- A 72-year-old Staten Island man faces charges after authorities say he accidentally shot his guide on a hunting trip in Canada, according to multiple reports. Alan Guskind of Bulls Head is charged with careless use of a fire arm, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and handling a firearm in a careless manner, the Web site Global Regina is reporting.
The incident occurred while the guide, a 28-year-old male, was trying to
enter a hunting blind in a wooded area south of Meadow Lake, Sask., according to
CBC news. When the guide began opening the
zipper on the blind, the hunter accidentally discharged his rifle, according to
the report.
The bullet passed through the victim's hand and abdomen. He is expected to
survive.
Guskind was released on $15,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court in
April, according to reports.
